Resisting the Moon Teaser 2

“Can I help you?” I asked, turning to face Sebastian Lyall.

His whitish-blond hair was perfectly coifed in messy spikes, his light blue, button down shirt matching the color of his eyes. The last thing I needed was to look into them. He’d had me tongue tied several times in the past and it ended up making me look like an idiot.

Smirking, Sebastian stepped closer, holding out a hand. “Would you care to dance?”

Rolling my eyes, I nodded toward the group of women in the corner who watched his every move. “Why don’t you ask one of your groupies? I’m sure they’d be more than willing.”

He and his brothers, Micah and Zayne, along with Colin, were hot commodities in our pack. They were all royal wolves—the elite. No female could resist them, except me that is. I couldn’t complain though; the royals helped make our pack invincible.

Sebastian leaned closer, his gaze serious. “I asked you, Tyla Rand. Besides, there’s something I need to tell you.”

“Why do we have to dance in order for you to spill? Just say it now.”

Chuckling, he grabbed my hand and pulled me to the dance floor. “What’s the matter, afraid to be close to me? I promise I won’t bite.”

Right. Huffing, I reluctantly walked onto the dance floor just when the tempo changed to a slower, sensual beat. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” I growled. Other couples joined in and held each other, swaying to the music, while I stood there like a fool.

Grabbing my other hand, Sebastian pulled my arms around his shoulders and put his around my waist. “See? Not so bad.”

I glared up at him. “Just keep your hands from wandering. Now what do you want to talk about?” His hands snaked lower and I growled. “Keep it up and see where your hands end up next.”

Chuckling, he lifted them higher. “I like watching your cheeks blush. It’s sexy as hell.”

Title: Life Interrupted
Author: Yessi Smith
Genre: Dark Romantic Suspense
Release Date: January 14

I am a blank canvas that even the artist in me doesn’t know how to fill. My life started the day I escaped and woke up in the hospital.

Escaped from reality. Escaped from fear. Escaped from him.

Nothing exists before that, and as the days trickle by, I’m positive there’s nothing after that either.

I try though. For Poppa, who hasn’t left my side since I woke up, I try to live.

But every attempt is futile. So I escape again and start fresh on a small island, where there aren’t any expectations to fulfill. Where family and friends I don’t remember can’t look at me with sadness and disappointment.

And when Travis Keillar comes into my life everything changes. The memories I’ve lost become unimportant to the memories I’m creating with him. For the first time since I opened my eyes that fateful day in the hospital, life smiles back at me.

Until it doesn’t.

Until he comes back for me.
For revenge of crimes I don’t remember committing.

Life Interrupted by Yessi Smith from Becca the Bibliophile on Vimeo.

I’m half asleep when he lays me on my bed, but am startled awake when he starts to remove my jeans.

“Shower and then sleep.”

He kisses my stomach before tracing kisses down one leg and then the other as he slips the jeans off of me. I watch him, my eyes intent on his every movement. When he finishes, I sit up and lift my hand over my head, so he can remove my shirt.

Cold air hits my chest, making me inhale a sharp breath. After he removes his shirt, Travis lays me back down and leans over me. Heightened pleasure coils inside me as I lie beneath the bulk of this beautiful man. His lips trace kisses from my navel to my neck where he devotes the most amount of time. I run my fingers over his neck in lazy circles, never wanting him to stop.

After unsnapping my bra, he sucks my pebbled nipples. My head presses back against the bed while my mouth opens on a silent moan.

“No,” I complain on a strangled groan when he lifts me in his arms and takes me to my shower where a hot spray awaits me.

Travis winks when he places me on the rug in front of the shower and then kisses my jaw. I help Travis out of his jeans and then take his hand, guiding us into the shower. Under the spray, I run my fingers over his chest and then wrap my arms around his neck, pulling his face to me. When our lips touch, everything around us disappears.

Our lips tangle long enough for our souls to join while our bodies flush together, forcing away the air between us. His fingers trail up my thigh, resting his hands on my ass. Pushing me against the shower wall, he presses his thigh between my legs, separating them. With his cock throbbing against me, he rubs, and fluttering ripples of pleasure explode inside of me.

It’s just us. And all I can do is feel.

A heart full of love and a life full of laughter—that’s what his kiss promises me.

So, I open myself to him, completely, and I trust in us.

They could hear the deep breaths of the dragon as it passed by the shed. They crouched motionless under the window with their backs pressed against the wall. Not only did they hear it sniffing the ground and the walls, but that familiar methane smell was overwhelming. It rounded the side and approached the woodshed doors.

Buzz mouthed a jumbled Hail Mary while attempting, but failing to make the sign of the cross.

A loud screech in the distance startled them out of their silent formation and Buzz’s haphazard prayer. The dragon pushed off the ground with its massive legs and flew away, back in the direction of the enormous mountain they had seen from the top of the knoll. It turned back once to circle the shed; then as quickly as it arrived, it vanished into the horizon behind the trees.

As an author, I enjoy making my own way in life–answering to no one, but myself. I do enjoy meeting fans and attending book events. I was so excited to be invited to sign in New York City with several of my fellow authors. My life was going so well until I made one mistake. His name was Daniel White. Daniel is the cover model extraordinaire. Meeting Daniel changed my whole life. I’m not sure quite what to make of it. He’s stubborn, bossy, and won’t leave me to my own space.
What should I do with him?
If I was writing my own story, I’d have written my character a better ending. This has to get better . . . doesn’t it?
AAT eBook Final

OH! I remembered then. I was on my way to my room. In my inebriated state, I’d mixed up the numbers. I had ended up at his door trying desperately to get my key to work. I recalled hearing some kind of grumbling from the other side of the door, but hadn’t really been coherent enough to put two and two together.

I’d fallen through the door when he snatched it open. I was on the floor for a few moments giggling and I heard him curse. It had sounded like he’d said something about eager fans or desperate women. Either way, I’d laughed and told him that he was an asshole for jumping to conclusions because I wasn’t what he thought I was. I was just too drunk to realize that I was trying to get into the wrong room.

I’d tried to lift myself up and almost fell. I’d tugged on something, but didn’t know what. I didn’t know until I was on my knees in the next moment facing his slightly erect rod, which was beautiful and staring me in my face. The one-eyed monster had my full attention.

“Okay, beautiful, you got to see it. Now let go of my pants,” I’d heard him say.

My eyes never budged. I was fixated. Before I realized it, I had the head of him in between my lips. Once I had it, I wasn’t letting go. I didn’t until he’d grabbed my bun and tugged. He lifted all of my size- fourteen, five-foot-four, one-hundred-seventy-plus ass up off the floor and hand me spread eagle in the air perched just above his completely erect pelvis a moment later.

“You want this?” was his question.

I was so flabbergasted and turned on by how easily he lifted me that my response was automatic, “Yes. God, yes!”

He quickly slid the only thing hindering his entry to the side and tested my willingness with his fingers. His probing had my head falling back. My panties had to have been soaked through because I had been more than ready. He was deep within me after just a few slight strokes. I lost count over the course of the night just how many times I fell into the lap of ecstasy. I just recalled being in a constant state of bliss. I remembered feeling exhausted and drifting off to sleep with the cheesiest grin. His hand in my dampened honey blonde tresses helped lull me to sleep.

I know I woke up in the middle of the night and felt really hot. I’d rocked back and felt him behind me. I was in that in-between state where you can’t tell dream from reality. So, I just went with it. I woke him enough to have my wicked way with him.

“Oh my … I can’t believe I did this,” I groaned into the pillow.

“Yeah, you did and quite well I might add. I’ll admit that I’ve never been with a … a, um, African American girl and definitely not a plus size one but damn … ” he said as he moved around behind me.

I inwardly groaned again then was pissed and irritated with myself. I was most definitely the dumbest woman to walk the face of the earth. Ever so slowly, I sat up and began to stand my naked body on my shaky legs.

“Whoa there, ba … ,” he began, but I cut him off.

“Do not finish that statement. I’m not your baby. As a matter of fact, if I remember correctly, when I fell into your room last night or this morning, whenever, you thought I was some ‘desperate fan’. I wasn’t then and I’m not now. I’m going to get my bearings and my damn clothes so I can leave. I need to get ready for the event today. Ugh, my head … and my stomach. I’m going to use your bathroom first,” I informed him as I moved very slowly toward my gown, which was in the direct path of the bathroom. Didn’t I have on pants before? Oh yeah, I had them on under the gown.

“Wait. Did I say something wrong?”

I just ignored him and concentrated on getting to my garment then to the bathroom. I’d just made it to the gown when I heard the bed move.

About The Author

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

That Night by Lisa McManus #YABookReport

It can take a whole day to figure out
what happened…that night.
what was to be just another Monday morning at school, Luke’s girlfriend Jessica
is nowhere to be found.  Names like ‘psycho lover’ follow Luke to his
locker, even from his best friend. Luke soon learns Jessica tried to kill
herself at a party from the previous Saturday night, and she’s
blaming him. With posts on FaceBook feeding the rumors of what happened that
night, the school has to investigate.
between worry, guilt, loyalty, priorities, and an urgency to clear his name and
protect hers, he has to find her—he loves her no matter what. The teacher in
the middle of the investigation is also the same one to provide academic and
character references for Luke’s college applications due by the end of the

everyone blaming him for what happened, he’s at risk of losing
everything—Jessica and his dreams of being a mechanic—all because of what

“Hey, man.” I nodded to Jeremy Waters as I started the long trek up the front lawn of
the school. He nodded back but gave me a questioning stare as I walked past.
Again, weird. What is with everyone today? I wondered.
I scanned
the busy school grounds. Where was Jessica? I knew our
break-up was inevitable, but I dreaded it. I still cared about her very much,
but things were changing: me, her, and ‘us’––and I didn’t know what to do about
it. Neither did she.
At first I didn’t
notice anything off, but as I passed group after group of unusually
silent guys and girls from all grades, I got that weird feeling, like I was
being watched, like the whole school was focused on me or something.
Some of the
guys pulled their buds out of their ears as I approached, their banter from
moments before silencing as I passed. One guy shook his head as if in disgust.
Another guy awkwardly picked at something on the ground with the toe of his
shoe, as if he were avoiding something.
I kept going,
trying to walk as normally as I could. Hard to do when you know you’re being
Where was
Jess? I checked my phone to see if there was anything from her: nothing.
I shifted my
backpack and made my way up the path to the front steps of the school. With
every footstep, uncertainty and foreboding gnawed at my gut.
A group of
girls from Jessica’s drama club huddled on the front steps like a bunch of
hens. They all gave me the once-over. One of them was crying and another gave
me the finger.
That stopped
me in my tracks. “What the hell?” I stared them down. “What was that for?”
“Screw you,
Luke!” The one with the ornery finger spat. “Stay away from Jessica!”
Bunch of gossips––they seriously need to get a life.
Jessica and
I had been drifting apart for a while. Where she was involved in her drama
club, her social life, I preferred being under the hood of a car,
alone. But it wasn’t that I chose cars over her or anything. I cared about her
very, very much. At one time I even contemplated the L-word thing with her. But
lately, something had changed, and I couldn’t figure out what. I mean, I knew I
wanted to be with her but it was like we were drifting towards each other, then
away, then back towards each other again. Only to then again drift further
But I would
never do anything to her, to earn me the middle finger from her friends. So why
were they acting like that? What the…? I shook my head and kept going. I
hadn’t done anything to provoke their reaction, so they could just go back to
their pointless chatter about hair or whatever.
With fifteen
minutes to go until the first bell, I wanted to catch up with Jess before
classes started. She lived way on the other side of town, and as much I would
have loved to pick her up every morning, her mom insisted on driving her. Her
mom liked me, so it wasn’t anything against me personally, but Jessica said it
was a ‘mom and daughter thing.’ And besides, we always met first thing at
school and I would, at least, get to drive her home.
But that
day, even though I wasn’t exactly about to have ‘the talk’ with her right
before class, I wanted to at least see her that morning to start the day––it
was our ‘thing.’ A pang of regret fluttered in my gut. If we broke up, would we
still meet in the mornings? She had become part of my day and I still wanted
I made my
way through the doors of the school. The halls were already swarming with East
Clark High’s student body. I searched for Jessica as I pushed and wove my way
through the crowd. But I soon realized I wasn’t pushing past anyone, anymore.
The constant buzz in the halls had all but died down, and people were stepping
aside giving me a wide berth as I went.
What the
hell was wrong with everyone?
I frowned at everyone practically plastered up against
the lockers, avoiding me like I was contagious or something. Did I smell like
dog sh––
“Psycho!” A
familiar voice hissed in my ear, cutting off my thoughts. Great––Mark.
I stuttered to a stop but tried to keep going. I, along with everyone else, was
used to his stupid ways, but I had to find Jessica. I didn’t want to waste time
getting into it with him right then.
But he came
at me again with, “Psycho-lover!” and that definitely had me coming to a full
stop. I swear I felt spit on my cheek.
I refused to
swipe it away, giving him the satisfaction of … I didn’t know what. Something.
I glanced up to find his buddies chuckling while Mark, the idiot himself,
contorted his face into what he assumed was the look of a crazy person.
He didn’t
have to try very hard. It came naturally.
And I hoped
his eyes stayed crossed like that.
I stared him
down, and just when I turned away he was up against me, his face so close to
mine his eyes looked crossed. “Jessica almost knocked herself off the other
night. Whadidja do? Screw her over?” he hissed.
I stared at
him in confusion. My face numbed. My neck heated. What was he talking about?
What did he mean, ‘knock herself off’?
